Cathedral of the Duomo at Padua
The Baptistery of the Cathedral of the Duomo at Padua was erected in the 12th century and was entirely frescoed by Giusto De’ Menabuoi on orders of Fina Buzzaccarini Da Carrara. The apse is particularly interesting, with one of the rare examples of a complete representation of the Apocalypse. All the episodes are faithful replicas of the writings except for one detail: the beast with seven heads, each bearing a papal tiara, which emerges from the sea. The fact that the feline, symbol of lust and allegory of sin, is crowned with papal tiaras in a holy place is a curious circumstance.
