Umbro Apollonio Museum of Contemporary Art at San Martino di Lupari

The Umbro Apollonio Museum of Contemporary Art at San Martino di Lupari hosts the only Italian permanent exhibition on a specific artistic movement, the Constructivism, which covers a period from 1960s up to present time. In 1981 the municipality set up the museum by displaying the works it had collected during the ‘Biennali d’Arte Contemporanea’ exhibitions in San Martino di Lupari (Padua). The museum was dedicated to Umbro Apollonio and represents an homage paid to the art critic who studied and promoted this artistic movement, both as lecturer and as critic and director of various editions of the Venice Biennale. The collection includes 96 works by 77 Italian artists among whom Edoer Agostini, a local artist and member of APL club who died young. The museum displays also works by several foreign artists: Yves Millecamps and Francois Morellet (France), Hans Jorg Glattfelder (Switzerland), Hugo Demarco, Antonio Asis and Horacio Garcia Rossi (Argentine), and Francisco Sobrino (Spain). The museum collections are hosted in the Council Chamber of the City Town Hall.
