Risorgimento and Contemporary Age Museum at Padua

The Risorgimento and Contemporary Age Museum at Padua is located on the first floor of the prestigious Caffè Pedrocchi building designed by the architect G. Jappelli in 1831. It covers one and a half centuries of national and Padua history: from the fall of the Repubblica Veneta in 1797 to the promulgation of the Italian constitution back in 1948. The new setting of the museum opens on the first floor after few guest rooms eclectically decorated according to Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Renaissance style, and represents an important extension of the ‘museum function’ of the building. The museum collection covers a wide range of items – antiques, arms, uniforms, paintings, sculptures, posters, coins, medals, ornaments and many other objects that document this eventful period of Padua history. The museum aims to illustrate military and political aspects and the civil and economical growth of the city of Padua during 150 years of history.
