Church of Saint Thomas Becket at Padua
Church of Saint Thomas Becket at Padua. Erected in the 17th century on pre-existent buildings, the church is one of Padua’s baroque jewels, and has been managed by St Filippo Neri priests until 1890. Works of Bonazza, Bonaccorsi, Ferrari, Pellizzari, Maffei and a cross attributed to Donatello are displayed inside. On the ceiling, fifteen paintings dating to the 17th and 18th century illustrate the mysteries of the Rosary. The vestry hosts many paintings, among which the wonderful 15th-century `Virgin Mary on the throne¿ by Antonio Vivarini stands out. There is also a collection of holy objects on display, including some fabrics, liturgical furniture and pieces of goldsmith’s art.
