Museum of Disappeared Villages at Villa Estense
The Museum of Disappeared Villages at Villa Estense displays findings, documents and aerial photographs of hamlets located in the area south of Padua that sometimes played an important role but disappeared during the Middle Age because of pestilences, urbanization, drainages, etc. The museum consists of three rooms: the first introduces visitors to the topographic models of Padua southern area with large use of interesting lighted panels. The second room hosts a wide range of remains from huts’ fireplaces (earthenware and ollar stone vases), ceramics and ornaments (buckles, bronze brooches, pearls etc.). The corridor displays images of rural environments, 16th-17th century ceramics and a little puppets theatre dated to the late 18th century.
