Maap - Archaeological Environmental Museum of Padua Waters at Padua

The Maap, Archaeological Environmental Museum of Padua Waters at Padua, is set in the enchanting frame of the former Church of St Eufemia, in Padua, a building of great historical and architectural value. The main group of items displayed in the museum was found in a sanctuary of the protohistoric and Roman Age, a place of common worship attended almost without interruption from 750BC to 400AD. The collections also include a large amount of Renaissance ceramic works dated between the 15th and the 18th centuries. Aerial and satellite photos made for archaeological research purposes together with geomorphologic studies have allowed to reconstruct the situation of the territory in ancient times and to trace human presence in the area (old river beds, Roman centuriation areas). A rich electronic archive with photographs, historical documents and videos enables to throw light on the recent past. The MAAAP institute organizes didactic events for students, thematic routes and experimental archaeology workshops held by researchers and professionals. It regularly promotes cultural events such as plays, concerts, screenings, meetings, conventions and popular activities for adult audience.
